Philanthropy

Pi Kappa Phi is the only fraternity to establish, own and operate its own national community outreach organization. Push America seeks to raise money and awareness for the issues facing people with disabilities. Locally, Pi Kapps have volunteered numerous times with the Special Olympics. We have done such things as hang Christmas lights along with numerous other small scale projects to raise money totaling in about $8,500 already for this year. Pi Kapps recently traveled to Coeur D’Alene, Idaho to participate in an accessibility project in a Give-A-Push weekend. Alpha Delta chapter also leads the national fraternity for participation in the Journey of Hope, a cross-country cycling trip, to raise money and awareness for Push America.

Push America

Push America, founded in 1977, remains the exclusive philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi with the purpose of instilling lifelong service in our fraternity members and serving people with disabilities. The organization, solely owned and operated by Pi Kappa Phi, is unique as it is the only philanthropy owned by a National Fraternity. All other fraternities donate money to a designated philanthropy (i.e. Red Cross, Fred Hutchinson, etc.) but Pi Kapps do much more than donate money. We actually serve people with disabilities by working for Push America. This makes serving others an integral part of Pi Kappa Phi.

Push serves people with disabilities by raising funds, promoting public awareness, and directly interacting with individuals. Members of Pi Kappa Phi can become involved in local community events as well as national sponsored service projects.

journey of hope

Journey of Hope

The Journey of Hope: The Journey of Hope is a cross-country bicycle trek beginning in San Francisco, CA and ending in Washington, D.C. which raises funds and awareness for people with disabilities. Simply put, the Journey of Hope is a ride with a purpose. Make no mistake; this is not a simple ride. The Journey of Hope is about many things. It is about challenging the norm. It is about serving our communities. It is about finding out more about ourselves than we ever imagined. It is about having a dream. It is about a mission. It is about hope.

Pi Kapp men from across the country get together each summer to make this incredible Journey. Riders are responsible to raise $5000 to participate. Last year's team raised over $400,000 to benefit people with disabilities.
